Ministry Coordinator

Pullman Presbyterian Church in Pullman, Washington is seeking a part-time Ministry Coordinator to partner with the church in furthering our mission to Equip an Intergenerational Community to Follow Christ with Mind and Heart. The Ministry Coordinator is a vital member of the ministry team that supports the mission by serving as the first point of contact, preparing and distributing church communications, providing program support to the Pastor, staff, and volunteers, and maintaining the church’s digital presence in the world.

Location / Time / Rate: On-site, 20 hours per week, $20 – $24 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the reception of people coming to, calling or emailing the church in a friendly manner; take messages, provide assistance, and route communications
  2. Provide program support for the various ministries of the church including recruiting/organizing/coordinating and communicating with volunteers
  3. Provide support for the Pastor including taking messages, screening calls, interpreting Pastor’s availability, and performing other support tasks. Meet with Pastor and other staff weekly
  4. Maintain church website, social media accounts, and advertising
  5. Respond to requests for benevolence care or assistance from the church by making initial contact and communicating needs, notifying pastor and Deacons of needy individuals requesting help from the church
  6. Manage church calendar and building usage of outside groups; sort and distribute daily mail, organize incoming bills and other materials
  7. Manage member personal information and update as needed; assist congregants with using our online systems church management program
  8. Assist Church Finance Administrator in maintaining the financial records of the church; monitoring the budget on a regular basis; process and track purchase orders, invoices and payments
  9. Provide supervision to the custodial staff of the church on behalf of the Session; Assume responsibility for assessing repair and maintenance needs, scheduling appointments (such as for estimates or repair work), maintaining an accurate inventory of general supplies

Qualifications:

  • A heart for Christ
  • Ability to participate in the life of the church
  • At least one year office/administrative/program support experience
  • Strong support for the mission of our organization
  • Effective interpersonal communicator; listens with empathy
  • Ability to handle tasks in a confident, tactful, and pleasant manner
  • Strong skills in word processing, publishing social media content
  • Experience with Apple OS and hardware
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
  • Experience with Hootsuite or other social media management software a plus
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Good writing and editing skills
  • Good organizational skills and practices
  • Adaptable, can work with diverse personalities
  • Self-differentiated; strong sense of self-acknowledged strengths and weaknesses; able to develop and maintain healthy interpersonal boundaries; trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality
